Haven't heard that name in a long time. How's she doing?

Hi Naomi. I'm okay. Just got off the phone with Rosie. Remember her?

Hey, sis.
How
’ve you been?

Oh no…Will she be okay?

Not good.just found out she has breast cancer. While showering, she noticed a lump in her breast. Got it checked out, and sure enough — cancer.

I had one a few years ago and it was clear.

It reminded me that I haven’t had a mammogram in a couple years either.

She doesn't know yet. She’d been meaning to get a mammogram for years but kept putting it off. Poor thing.

I don’t feel any lumps or anything.

That's the thing—when you're our age, you might need to get one every two years. You can ask your doctor about what's right for you.

Just scheduled mine. Maybe you do the same.

I will, but money's tight. I'm not sure I can afford a mammogram.

You don’t want to wait until you feel something. Early detection is key. Will you at least think about it?

Are you eating?

Ha! Yes, picking at some pie.

Anyways, what you really can't afford is cancer. Your insurance has to cover a mammogram at no cost to you, and Medicaid may offer coverage, too.
I guess it varies by state.

Ok fine. Don’t be dramatic. I’ll make an appointment today.

C’mon, don't pull a Rosie. Do this for me. I need my sister around.

Thank you.

Don't wait.
Early detection saves lives.

Doctors recommend a mammogram every two years for people ages 50-74.
